The challenge of the HydroGen project is to design new statistical and computational tools dedicated to comparative metagenomic.
A direct application will be the study of ocean life, and more specifically the planktonic biomass. Actually, plankton is the main factor of oxygen production of CO2 sequestration, and a main actor in the ocean food chain. Analyzing genomic plankton provides direct clues on climate change and marine stock issues.
Data is provided by the Tara Ocean project.
